Giddings Plaza is a gathering place for locals unlike you would find in any other Chicago neighborhood. It's an intimate plaza with a fountain, much like you would find in the Marais district of Paris or in almost any other European city. In the summer, there are free concerts and on many days musicians just show up and play, while families and residents enjoy the benches and the al fresco weather, not to mention the fabulous outdoor Café Selmarie, which is right on the plaza. In the fall, there's a wonderful apple festival and you can buy brats and beer next door from the Brauhaus. In the winter, the community Christmas tree goes up in the plaza and the street takes on a true holiday atmosphere. Giddings Plaza is a great gathering place, where you are bound to meet neighbors and friends, and it gives Lincoln Square a lot of its unique character.
